May the 4th be with you!
/President's Message
Dear Digital Public Schools Alliance Community,
As we move into May, I’m reminded that this time of year is both a celebration and a final push. Or, to put it in timely terms—May the 4th be with you as we head into the home stretch of the school year!
Across our alliance, I continue to be inspired by the innovation, resilience, and dedication shown by our students, educators, and families. This season is an important opportunity to finish strong. Whether it’s completing coursework, preparing for assessments, or supporting students as they reach their goals, every effort right now makes a meaningful difference. Momentum matters—and the work you’re doing today sets the stage for success tomorrow.
As we look ahead to next school year, I’m also excited to share a Save the Date for our Capitol Day 2027: Friday, March 26th, in Olympia. This event is a powerful opportunity for our community to come together, elevate student voices, and advocate for the future of digital learning. More details will be shared in the coming months, but we hope you’ll mark your calendars and plan to join us.
I’d also like to take a moment to highlight two incredible WAVA students who are receiving recognition at the national level for their accomplishments. Read more below.
Let’s not forget it is National Teacher Appreciation Week. Take a moment to express gratitude to a teacher who is making a difference in your life and that of your family. Send a quick note or share one of the cards we’ve created.
Finally, please take a few minutes to complete our parent survey. Your responses help us tell the story of online public education and why it’s an important option for Washington families.
As we approach the end of the school year, we thank each of you for the role you play in supporting student success. Let’s continue to encourage one another, stay focused, and carry this strong momentum into summer. Be sure to follow us on Facebook for important, timely updates and opportunities to engage: https://www.facebook.com/WAFOL
Sincerely,
Felicia Kern, DPSA President
Student Spotlight
This month, we highlight more students who are demonstrating perseverance, curiosity, and leadership in a digital learning setting. Through consistent effort and a willingness to take initiative, they have excelled academically and made positive contributions to their learning community. Their success reminds us of what’s possible when students are empowered with flexible, high-quality educational options. We are proud to celebrate their achievements and look forward to seeing what they accomplish next.

Annual Parent Survey
We value your opinion and want to hear your family’s story. Please take 5 minutes to complete our survey and tell why an online public school works for you.
Your survey responses will help us inform the conversation surrounding online public schools in Washington State. We gather this information annually to inform and educate state policymakers about Washington’s online schools and the families who utilize them.
The Washington Digital Public Schools Alliance is a coalition of Washington families who have joined together to advocate for digital public schools in our state. DPSA parents have worked hard to educate and inform Washington State policymakers about the importance of digital public schools. Your participation makes a real difference to our leaders in Olympia.
