Digital Learning Isn't a Choice; It's a Necessity

In Recognition of Veterans Day

“As an active-duty military family, we've experienced various educational settings nationwide, but none had the support for development needs that my son required.

Washington Virtual Academy (WAVA) was my son's lifeline, and I want to take this Veterans Day to highlight the importance of digital learning programs, especially for military families with unique educational needs.

My son always struggled to find acceptance at traditional schools because of his ADHD. He found learning was easier when he moved - but that didn't fit the box of traditional in-person learning. And, as a family that moved often because of the military - we made the switch to WAVA.

My son is now challenged by a rigorous yet tailored learning environment that is helping him blossom and grow. WAVA allowed us to have live instruction in a setting that supported his needs.

Digital learning isn't a choice for us; it's a necessity. It has empowered my kid and many others who would have otherwise fallen through the cracks. As we celebrate Veterans Day, I encourage all the military and non-military families facing similar challenges to seek out untraditional education options because a perfect fit is out there for you.”
