Digital Education: A Solution to Bullying in Schools

In Recognition of National Bullying Prevention Month

“Bullying in schools is a personal issue for me, as my family has suffered the emotional and physical toll of bullying for many years. As October marks National Bullying Prevention Month, I urge parents are in similar situations to explore different education options because every child deserves a secure learning environment.

My son was attacked and bullied for having red hair. At that time, his brick-and-mortar school claimed they couldn't take any action. Consequently, my son's personality changed: he lost confidence in himself, and his academic performance declined.

To safeguard my child, I decided to withdraw my son from the school and enroll him in Washington Virtual Academy (WAVA), a digital public school. There, he regained his confidence, became an honor student, and started to thrive. After five years of digital education, my son has now returned to a brick-and-mortar school to make new friends. Not only is he far more academically advanced than his peers, but he's also happy and confident.

Parents should be aware that there are alternatives to traditional brick-and-mortar schools because no child should be forced to suffer through bullying. You and your child have a right to a successful education.”
