Send us your back to school photos and stories
/Dear Parents,
This week we start a new school year! As a digital public school parent and learning coach, I have watched my sons, Austin and Andrew, prepare for the new year. They have bought back to school supplies, excitedly unpacked boxes of books from their school, and attended orientation sessions. They are especially excited to meet their new teachers and see their friends in the online classrooms.
This is an exciting time for students and parents! What are your children looking forward to this year? Math? Science? History? A school outing? Reconnecting with friends and teachers? We would love to hear from you! Would you take a few minutes to send us an email at info@digitalpublicschools.org and tell us why your child is excited about the new school year? Please include a photo too! We will share these student stories and photos on our Facebook page.
As we kick off the new school year, I hope you will consider how you can get involved in the Digital Public Schools Alliance (DPSA), a coalition of parents who have joined together to advocate for digital public education. Over the last several years, our parents have worked hard to educate state policymakers about this important education option. Thanks to your efforts, the Washington State Legislature is better informed about the critical role of digital public schools for so many Washington families, but we need to continue to educate state policymakers about our unique form of schooling. Your participation makes a real difference to decision-makers in Olympia.
I urge you to check out the DPSA website, sign up for our updates and be sure to Like our Facebook page. If you would like to play an active role in advocating for digital public education, please email me atinfo@digitalpublicschools.org.
I also encourage you to mark your calendars to attend our Digital Learning Day at the Capitol, which will be held at the State Capitol in Olympia on March 2, 2018. This is a great opportunity to meet other digital public school families and learn about our state government.
Thanks for your support, and I look forward to working with you to advocate for digital public education.
Sincerely,
Sally Karr
President, Digital Public Schools Alliance - WA
