The Washington Digital Public Schools Alliance provides parents with resources to share their online public school story. With so many families seeking education alternatives due to COVID-19, the parent perspective is more relevant than ever. Why did you choose a full-time online public school for your child? If you’re new to full-time online learning, how is this option different than the online option offered by your local school district? State legislators and the public need to hear your story. We are collecting stories from parents and students to demonstrate why full-time online public schools are an important option for Washington families.
2021 Legislative Session
The 2021 Washington State Legislative Session will convene on January 11. As more Washington families utilize full-time online schools, we will work with legislators to serve as a resource and educate and inform them about this important education option. Throughout the legislative session, we will offer families opportunities to engage with legislators through lesson demonstrations, emails, phone calls, Zoom meetings, and other engagement tactics. The parent voice is critical to the debate around education in the state, and we will help you amplify your voice and your message to state policymakers.
Election Results
The November 3 election produced few changes in the Washington State Legislature. While some state legislative seats changed from one party to another, the final result is that Democrats will have the same majorities in Olympia as they had before Election Day. Democrats will keep their 57-41 majority in the House and their 28-21 majority in the Senate. A conservative-leaning Democrat who caucuses with Republicans counts towards Republicans in those numbers. For more information on election results, visit the Washington Secretary of State website.

Since we can't meet in person for Capitol Day this year, we are working on a virtual Capitol Day event. We will share more details about Capitol Day and other engagement opportunities in the new year.
