/The Results Are In!
Thank you to the families who responded to our annual survey and shared their experiences with digital public education. Your responses will help us inform state policymakers about Washington’s digital public schools and the families who utilize them. The survey results offer important information about why families use this public school option and how it’s working for them.
Families choose a digital public school for a variety of reasons, including the quality of the curriculum, academic and health concerns, and negative experiences in a traditional school, including bullying. Here’s what we learned:
64% enrolled their child because of the quality of the curriculum
34% enrolled their child due to a health condition
74% chose a digital school because it offers a flexible schedule
40% enrolled their child because they experienced bullying at their traditional school
21% of students were below grade level when they started a digital public school but are now at grade level or above
Family Survey
Thanks again to those families who completed our survey. This information will help inform the conversation around digital public education in our state. If you haven’t had a chance to complete the survey, it’s still open, and we would welcome your response.
We look forward to working with you in the year ahead to advocate for our schools. Enjoy the rest of the summer! We’ll be in touch in September.
Sincerely,
Mark Martinez
President
The Washington Digital Public Schools Alliance is a coalition of Washington families who have joined together to advocate for digital public schools in our state. DPSA parents have worked hard to educate and inform Washington State policymakers about the importance of digital public schools. Your participation makes a real difference to our leaders in Olympia.
