Meet our New President, Revamped Newsletter!
/Dear WA DPSA Families,
I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new President of Washington Digital Public Schools Alliance (DPSA). This is my third year working with digital public schools as a learning coach/parent, teacher, and board member. I am constantly impressed with the level of family engagement from parents and learning coaches. Connecting with each of you continues to be a rewarding experience for me and I am honored to have the opportunity to level up my involvement in this organization as I step into this leadership role.
As parents we are used to wearing many hats: caregiver, cheerleader, meal planner, housekeeper, chauffeur, event planner, the list goes on… As parents of digital public students, we choose to wear a few more. We choose digital public schools for our students because we believe in the opportunity they provide. We believe in doing whatever it takes to ensure our students have access to the most appropriate education option for them, deciding the individualization afforded through digital public schools is the best fit. Some of us are here for academic rigor, others for extra systems of support. Some of us came to avoid things (anxiety, bullying, lockdowns, etc.) and others are here for the increased schedule flexibility for hobbies, religious preferences, and travel. No matter what brought you and your student(s) to digital public school, we are glad you are here!
The board has established a firm foundation for supporting digital public school students across Washington state, including the ever-popular Capitol Day each March. Together, we will continue building on the incredible foundation already in place, and I am committed to fostering collaboration and growth. I am committed to revamping the monthly newsletter, hosting more in-person outings, and providing additional legislative training sessions remotely this year.
I look forward to working closely with each of you as we strive toward shared goals and an even brighter future for all digital public school students across Washington. Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!
Sincerely,
Felicia Kern
President

Why is digital public school a good fit for your family?
WAVA allows our family to take our learning with us. This year one of the places we explored was Mexico, where we visited pyramids, Nuevo Vallarta, and family. Soon enough we plan on taking off on another adventure! WAVA gives us the freedom to do school anywhere with wifi and I don’t have to worry about my boys falling behind academically. In fact, they’re both on honor roll! Attending a Stride K12 school has been the absolute best experience for us. It has excellent curriculum and gives us time to create special bonds with education and our family.
